The dedicated cardio-thoracic operation theatre is a laminar flow air-conditioned theatre specially designed to eliminiate the infection. The operation theatre is fully equipped to perform all types of major open-heart procedures like coronary bypass operations, Valve replacements, correction of congenital heart diseases, vascular surgeries and thoracic surgeries, etc.
Coronary care unit (CCU) has the latest monitoring and life supporting systems for managing patients who have suffered a heart attack and patients suffering from critical heart diseases. |

| Expansion of CCU |
| We have upgraded our earlier 5 bedded CCU to 15 beds. This newly commissioned CCU has been designed and equipped according to International guidelines and requirements. The main objectives of the CCU being, immediate relief of pain, followed by necessary investigations to diagnose the problem to initiate treatment. This is followed by a period of careful observation for development of complications which will be managed accordingly. Mr.Govindarajan, Customs Superintendent, a patient treated in our he himself organized a press meet at the time of discharge to share the expertise at to the public. He was brought to our emergency ward in an unconscious state with no heart beat, no B.P., very shallow respiration and in an extra morbiand condition.
Mr.Govindarajan was given defibrillation and given artificial ventilation in emergency ward itself.Emergency angiogram, angioplasty and permanent pacemaker implantation was done to him.

| Bypass Club |
| Bypass Club, an exclusive group formed by patients who have undergone Bypass surgery. For someone who had coronary artery disease, the heart is better immediately after surgery than it was before. However to sustain this and make the treatment complete, KMC Heartcity felt the need to have a Rehabilitation program for these patients. This is being achieved by Bypass club. Now, the Bypass Club is acting as a support centre, helping to rehabilitate and rebuild these patients life. The group meets periodically to discuss on topics relating to improving their cardiac well being, with particular reference to life style modifications. It can also help in organizing financial support for the economically backward patients. The founder members of the ‘Bypass – Club’ were provided with a special ID card with which they can avail special concessions in investigations, health check ups, consultations and inpatient admissions. The hospital has made “angiogram free” for patients who undergo either angioplasty or Bypass surgery in this centre. Every month the hospital do a few free surgeries for deserving patients with the help of voluntary organizations. |
