1. Cancer Screening Camp

2. Cancer Counseling
We run free cancer counseling services every Thursday afternoon.
 
3. Radiotherapy
Our experienced Radiation Oncologists, plan precise treatments with CT films / X-ray films and after exact calculations by our physicist , treatment is delivered by the Telecobalt Theratron Phoenix machine. Laser positioning and immobilization using Orifit masks are routinely practiced. We strive in achieving precision and perfection in all our treatment sessions. We plan to upgrade the facilities by addition of HDR Brachy therapy and Dual energy Linear Accelerator, both of which are in the offing.
 
4. Chemotherapy
Chemotherpy is used in our institute in Neo-Adjuvant, Concurrent and Adjuvant settings. A dedicated oncology ward with 26 beds caters to our patients. The oncology staff nurses are trained in adminitering all types of chemotherapy for both haematological malignancies and solid tumors. Day care regimens as also complicated 3 or 5 day regimens are given with utmost patient care and comfort.
 
5. Pain and Palliative Care
Pain and palliative care clinics which follow WHO guidelines are run for providing a good quality of life to the terminally ill patient.
 
6. Cancer Awareness Campaigns
“ Prevention is better than cure “ – it is said. KMC , as a part of its effort to augment this statement, conducts cancer awareness campaigns regularly, against social evils like tobacco and alcohol. Last year CAN – WIN movement was organized (see caption of photo).

KMC Cancer Institute has launched the ‘‘CAN – WIN’ movement to fight against cancer by creating cancer awareness among public.To propogate this ‘Can – Win’ movement, a Mega Musical Nite has been organized with the famous playback singers Padmasri.Dr.S.P.Balasubrahmaniam and Padmasri.Dr.Smt.K.S.Chithra on June 2006. During the programme Dr.Smt.K.S.Chitra and TV fame Mr.Abdul Hameed visited all the patients at KMC Cancer Institute and encouraged them. Melody Queen’s presence cheers thecancer patients. KMC

KMC ‘s initiative on World No Tobacco Day to counsel the Public
This year on 31st May 2007, we at KMC, took a initiative to counsel the public against use of tobacco and related products, the occasion being WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY.

On this day 31 may 2007, being World No Tobacco Day, KMC cancer institute took the initiative to spread the awareness of ill effects of tobacco to the public. The rally was flagged off by the Radiation Oncologist Dr.S.P.Srinivas. To give awareness the hospital staff divided themselves into 8 groups of 10 members each and carried placards, counseling cards, pamphlets and collection bins to prominent places in Trichy which included Puthur, Woraiyur, Thillainagar, Gandhi Market, Teppakulam, Chatram bus stand, Srirangam, Junction, Central bus stand, Court, Cantonment and Thiruvanaikovil talked to the public regarding the ill effects of tobacco & smoking. They gave suggestions and ideas to help the public stop their tobacco habit. They motivated the willing people to drop their tobacco products like cigarette, gutkha and beedis into the collection bin that they carried, and made them take an oath to stop the tobacco habit. About 250 members of the public were willing to stop the habit and dropped their tobacco products into the bin. The public were issued counseling card  to get free counseling against tobacco use. This programme is being conducted every THURSDAY between 3 pm and 5 pm at  KMC Cancer Institute. Anyone who is willing to withdraw from their tobacco habit can visit KMC cancer institute counseling centre and benefit from discontinuation of the ill effects of tobacco.
